Every culture uses the technology of the frame, a contraption used to hold something else in place and display it. The guiding question in this project is: Is it possible to define architecture as manipulation of this elementary technology, namely, the frame?
Once it’s built it isn’t merely a tool but becomes a visible value. Each period, each work and artist creates self-expressions, which allow us to read the work of the past and also – we hope – to prepare ourselves for what is to come in the future. And we have come a long from the first Paleolithic settlements to our modern urban spaces.
The aim of this project is to combine materials to build a frame which will last, develop and multiply. Over time the created frames will accumulate cultural, political and visual traces according to shifting relations between people, city, and culture.
